The Football Special helps get you to Lions games this year

Work is underway on a new BC Place roof, so the BC Lions have a temporary new home at Empire Field for the 2010 season.

Empire Field is an outdoor field at the site of the former Empire Stadium, near the PNE Fairgrounds. And to help you get there, we’ve arranged some “Football Special” shuttle buses at two nearby SkyTrain stations, in addition to regular bus service to the stadium.

Football Special bus service

Catch the Football Special shuttles at 29th Avenue Station or Renfrew Station, which you can reach using the SkyTrain Expo or Millennium Lines.

The Football Special service will start about three hours before kickoff, and will run using the really long, 60-foot articulated buses. After the games, the shuttles will run from Empire Field back to those same SkyTrain stations. Estimated time from Renfrew Station to Empire Field is 10 minutes.

Please note that bus facilities at Gilmore Station are limited and that station is not recommended for fans heading to or from the games!

For all the transit options available (including the 10, 28, 135, and 160 routes!), check out the BC Lions transportation page. You can also plan your trip online using our Trip Planner. And if public transit is not the best option for you, perhaps ride-sharing might work: sign up at ride-share.com to find ride matches to take you to the Lions games!
