Link fun for a gloomy Wednesday
I wish the weather was like this photo right now.
While we wait for the weather to warm up again — and Environment Canada better not be joking about that — I thought I’d brighten things up with some fun links I’ve collected over the last little while.
- First, here’s the Cycle Facility of the Month from the Warrington Cycle Campaign in the UK, spotlighting hilariously awful bike facilities found worldwide. I especially like the February 2009 winner!
- Gordon Price recently put up a very cool Victorian bike map of Victoria, BC over at Price Tags, his blog.
- Somebody developed an augmented reality iPhone app to help you find the nearest tube station in London!
- Speaking of iPhone apps, check out Exit Strategy NYC, which shows you exactly where to stand on the subway to arrive closest to your exit. I’ve mentioned before that a paper version of this tool exists for Toronto’s subway. Anyone ever seen one for the SkyTrain?
- 10 creative uses for dead MetroCards (tickets for NYC’s subway). Has anyone ever done something similar with FareCards? This could be a good contest idea. (Sent by @pw3n — thanks!)
- Amazing high-quality photos of L.A.’s public transit history, courtesy of L.A. Metro’s incredible archives!

Thanks for the link to the worst bicycle facilities. Those had me ROFLOL. Too funny. Makes me want to get my camera and have a look around our region for things like that – it’d make a great competition for the Blog too.
