New fare gates are coming to Granville Station’s Dunsmuir Street entrance

More than 40,000 customers use Granville Station every day, making it one of our busiest stations on the system!

That’s why we’ll be adding two additional fare gates to the Dunsmuir Street entrance to ensure it continues to meet the needs of our growing ridership.

The Dunsmuir Street entrance will close and there will be no elevator service at the station from the end of service on Thursday, March 29 until the start of service on Tuesday, April 3 so crews can install the new fare gates.

During the closure, customers can access the station through both the Granville Street and Seymour Street entrances. Expo Line customers requiring the use of an elevator will need to go to Stadium–Chinatown Station or Burrard Station. SkyTrain Attendants will be present at Granville Station to assist customers during the work.

We recognize that this is an impact to our customers and we thank everyone for their patience while we improve capacity at Granville Station.

From Sunday, January 29 at 7 p.m. until Monday, January 30 at 7 a.m., BC Hydro will be doing necessary upgrades to their downtown substation.

Because of this work, Granville Station on the Expo Line will be affected.

There will be a brief hydro outage (less than 10 seconds) when all the escalators will stop and emergency lighting will be activated.

There will be staff on hand, working with BC Hydro, to aid with the safe shutdown of the escalators and elevators.

When the outage begins, Granville Station will be borrowing some power from Burrard Station.

During this nighttime work, three escalators and two elevators will be out of service and there will be reduced lighting.
