7:10am transit update for Wed Sept 9

7:10am transit update for Wed Sept 9

It’s raining hard out here… Take an umbrella if you’re going outside!

I’m at Broadway City Hall this morning. The morning rush is apparently starting earlier today in Richmond, but Waterfront bound trains arriving at City Hall alternate between busy (but still with room for more) and fairly empty. I guess people are getting off somewhere in between there? Platforms are being cleared, for sure. And trains heading south have plenty of room.

The official update from Drew:

morning, but evidently people are reaching their destinations and/or transferring at the stations in south Vancouver, because the loads are fairly light when the trains reach Broadway-City Hall.‬‪ ‬‪

As was the case yesterday, the trains are leaving Richmond-Brighouse Station packed, but customers getting on at Bridgeport can simply wait for the trains out of YVR, which are not full.‬‪ ‬‪

The #480 bus from Richmond to UBC is experiencing heavy loads, so Coast Mountain Bus Co has laid on shuttles to help out.‬‪ ‬‪

Other partsof the system are just waking up.  We should be heading into the peak period on the 99 B-Line and Expo & Millennium Lines shortly.‬‪ ‬‪Pedestrians and cyclists should be aware of pooling on streets – like the great big one in front of Broadway-City Hall station.  Motorists — please be careful not to splash people!‬

Photos now of two Waterfront bound trains.
