Well, as you might have suspected, David Lam was out taking photos of the Flexity streetcars as they were loaded up and driven over to Tacoma to be shipped home! Check out his photo gallery here.

I am also told that there were other train enthusiasts out there snapping pics — if you are one of them and you want me to post a link to your pictures, just send me an e-mail!

Edit: Terry Muirhead has passed along his photos of the Flexity leaving town. Keep on reading to see the rest of them plus his notes on the evening.

From Terry:

Here are some photos which I took Wednesday night of the Olympic Line Street
Car 3050 prior to departure on a flat bed truck this evening.

This is the first of two streetcars that will be heading for Tacoma Wa. where it will be loaded onto a Freighter & sent back to Brussels Belgium. Just a bit of trivia: the total length of the load is 178 feet end to end. This is the longest load to ever travel the streets of the British Columbia, I was told by the shipper.

A trucker from Texas was hired to do the move, as he had to make a specially designed chassis to load the streetcar. Due to the Length of the load it was unable to proceed through the US Custom
Inspection area at Pacific Highway Crossing, the N/B Canada Customs Lanes were closed off at 8am for the load can proceed straight through, & then would be processed by US Customs.

It took exactly 1 hour from the Olympic Village Station (W. 2nd & Ash St.) to Knight Street & E. 49th Ave. The second car 3051 will Depart from the same location next week where it will join Car 3050 in Tacoma & be placed on a freighter for their trip back to Brussels by way of the Panama Canal. The
Ship is due to depart Tacoma Wa. next Wednesday.
