10-Year Vision Spotlight: South of Fraser and Southwest

10-Year Vision Spotlight

This post is part of our 10-Year Vision Spotlight series, breaking down the nitty gritty of what’s planned in Phase Two of the Mayors’ Council’s 10-Year Vision!

Public engagement for Phase 2 of the Mayors’ Council’s 10-Year Vision is now underway through May 11! Phase Two builds on the momentum of Phase One, bringing even more transit and transportation improvements to the region.

In this post, we’re going to take a look at all the improvements coming to South of Fraser (North Delta, Langley city, Langley township, Surrey and White Rock) and Southwest (South Delta, Richmond and Tsawwassen First Nation).

At the top of the list is building and operating the Surrey–Newton–Guildford Line, a new light-rail transit on 104 Avenue and King George Boulevard. Project development and early works to prepare for new light-rail transit on Fraser Highway, connecting Surrey and Langley, will begin as well.

We’re also introducing SkyTrain improvements to increase service on all three lines, and modernizing and upgrading aging infrastructure on the Expo and Millennium Lines.

Later next year and as part of Phase One, a new B-Line will begin operating along Fraser Highway, connecting Surrey and Langley. In Phase Two, we’re looking at potential upgrades, such as transit priority and enhanced passenger amenities, for the Fraser Highway B-Line. We’ll also introduce two new B-Lines: Scott Road and Richmond to Expo Line.

We’re expanding the Frequent Transit Network (FTN), a network of corridors where transit service runs at least every 15 minutes in both directions throughout the day and into the evening, every day of the week. The 323 Newton Exchange/Surrey Central Station, 403 Bridgeport Station/Three Road and 601 South Delta/Bridgeport routes are all set to join the FTN.

In total, more than 30 bus routes in South of Fraser and Southwest will see improvements!

We’re improving or expanding the service area for the 501 Langley Centre/Surrey Central Station and 640 Ladner Exchange/Scott Road Station, restructuring the Langley shuttle network, and introducing service to East Fraser Heights and 68th Avenue.

The 555 Lougheed Station/Carvolth Exchange will see improvements to reduce wait times and overcrowding.

The 96 B-Line, 104, 324, 341, 342, 363, 364, 388, 531, 595, 606, 608, N10, N15, C60 and C75 will all have their hours of service extended. We’re reducing overcrowding on the 351 Crescent Beach/Bridgeport Station, and reducing wait times on the 301, 312, 316, 325, 341, 342, 364, 375, 401, 402, 407 and 501.
