Get to celebrations and home safely with Canada Day 2019 holiday transit service!

Making my way downtown, walking fast… because I want to see the firework show!  ?

We know that Canada Day celebrations are a big thing, cause we are excited for them too! That’s why on Monday July 1st, the SkyTrain, SeaBus and buses will be running on the holiday schedule, but with additional service to help you get to the celebrations and getting you home safely. ?

Because of this spectacular event, that also means that there will be changes to our regular bus routes and access to SkyTrain stations downtown. Don’t worry, it’s just for Canada Day!

Service changes to the transit network

Changes to regular and holiday service are done to accommodate the event. The information provided here is a summary so please click this link to see more details of your specific route. The following maps shows some wayfinding tips on the day of the event to prepare an efficient way to get home.

SkyTrain

Expo and Millennium lines will run more frequently throughout the evening:

  • Last train from Waterfront Station to Production Way–University Station at 12:38 a.m.
  • Last train from Waterfront Station to Lougheed Town Centre Station at 1:11 a.m.
  • Last train from Waterfront Station to King George Station at 1:16 a.m.
  • Last train from VCC–Clark Station to Lafarge Lake–Douglas Station at 1:26 a.m.

Canada Line will run rush hour peak service after the Canada Place fireworks with the last Canada line train leaving Waterfront station at 1:15 a.m.

Before, during, and after Canada Day festivities, SkyTrain stations will remain open, but some will have modified access to ensure customer comfort and safety during crowded periods. (Please see link above for specific details.)

Bus

Buses will run a modified Holiday schedule on Canada Day. Night service will be extended to help customers get home from late-night festivities on the following bus routes:

  • 96 B-Line, 106, 130, 209, 230, 319, 320, 321, 410, 501, 555, and 701

Steveston Salmon Festival shuttle from Richmond–Brighouse Station to Lord Byng Elementary School:

  • Shuttle leaves from the south-bound side of No. 3 Rd near Saba Rd
  • First shuttle departs Richmond-Brighouse Station: 11:30 a.m.
  • Last shuttle leaves Lord Byng Elementary School: 11:00 p.m.

SeaBus

SeaBus will provide extra and extended service:

  • First sailing: Lonsdale Quay at 8:02 a.m. and Waterfront Station at 8:16 a.m.
  • Last sailing: Lonsdale Quay at 1:00 a.m. and Waterfront Station at 1:22 a.m.
  • 15-minute service between 8:00 a.m. and 11:30 p.m. A third vessel will provide extra service between noon and 9:00 p.m.
  • 30-minute service between 11:30 p.m. and 1:22 a.m.

West Coast Express

West Coast Express will not run on Canada Day this year.

Fare increase in effect on July 1st and Transport 2050

Friendly reminder that the new transit fares are in effect starting on Canada Day to help fund transit projects that help shape our community. This helps us shape the future of Metro Vancouver in the next 30 years and envision the innovation that will incorporate our transportation network with other sectors in the region. Our Transport 2050 engagement bus will also be around multiple community events too!
