Joyce–Collingwood Station Public Art

The upgrades at SkyTrain’s Joyce–Collingwood Station are now complete and not only is there a new, upgraded elevator and escalator to improve passenger access, there’s a colourful public art installation that wraps around the new stationhouse and the nearby bus loop!

Wanna check it out yourself? The new west stationhouse opens on Saturday, June 15!

It’s called “Carpeting” by Renée Van Halm, a contemporary visual artist. The piece is mosaic of brightly coloured geometric panels covering the pavement and walls.

This latest artwork complements ‘Off Centre’, her award-winning hand-painted piece that’s prominently featured in the east stationhouse.

Other station improvements include:

  • New customer information signs, including exterior signs that provide real-time service information
  • Improved lighting, an extended roof, and new platform tiling
  • A new HandyDART bus shelter
  • Improved integration of pedestrian, bicycle, bus, and SkyTrain transportation modes
  • Relocated BC parkway path to provide separation for cyclists and pedestrians improving safety
  • Design features such as the use of glass partitions to support crime prevention through environmental design (CPTED) principles
  • New bus exchanges to accommodate future service improvements, including a planned B-Line from Joyce–Collingwood Station to UBC
  • Universally accessible fare gates

The Joyce–Collingwood Station upgrades were completed part of the TransLink Maintenance and Repair Program — our ongoing investment in aging infrastructure across the system to keep customers safe, comfortable and moving across a reliable transit network every day. This station’s upgrades were funded by TransLink, and the federal and provincial governments.
