The TransLink Maintenance and Repair Program is improving aging infrastructure across the system

Upgrades to Joyce-Collingwood Station are well underway. The new bus loop at Joyce-Collingwood Station is now complete – a milestone in the TransLink Maintenance and Repair Program that’s improving aging infrastructure across the system.

The next phase of construction will start next week, with crews completing necessary upgrade work.

The west stationhouse at Joyce–Collingwood SkyTrain Station will be closed from August 13 until spring 2019 as station improvements continue. During construction, the station will remain open and accessible to all customers.

Where do I catch my bus or SkyTrain?

Two new bus shelters at the Joyce-Collingwood Station – opening August 13.

 

Beginning August 13, customers will use the east stationhouse and newly-constructed bus loop to access SkyTrain and buses.

  • Buses will move to the new bus loop adjacent to the east stationhouse.
  • From August 13 to spring 2019, the west stationhouse will close and customers can catch their bus at the new bus loop adjacent to the east stationhouse.
  • The bus loop has larger shelters and is the new permanent location for the 28 and 41/43 routes.

The improvements to the bus exchange at 29th Avenue Station are now complete!

Do you catch the bus at 29th Avenue Station? Improvements to the bus exchange are now complete!

The upgrades include:

  • A new bus bay to allow all buses to pick-up and drop-off within the bus loop
  • Design elements that meet CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) guidelines to make the bus loop safer and more secure, such as improved lighting, glass shelters and lower-profile landscaping
  • Three new crosswalks to improve safety and access to the bus loop and station
  • New signage to better direct customers, including tactile strips to meet accessibility standards

Our top priority is customer and staff safety and all of these improvements help support our goal of making everyone feel safe and comfortable on our system.

First phase of construction at 29th Avenue Station complete

The first phase of upgrade construction work at 29th Avenue Station bus exchange is done!

Starting April 24, 2017 route 016 will be able to return to inside the bus loop to stop #51056 and the current, temporary stop on 29th Ave will be closed.

The sidewalk along the East side of the bus loop will also open so that customers can use this to access the SkyTrain station.

The upgrades for this exchange will include:

  • A new bus bay to allow all buses to pick up and drop off within the bus loop.
  • Improved lighting, glass shelters and lower profile landscaping to make the bus loop more visible and safer.
  • Three new crosswalks to improve safety and access tot he bus loop and station.
  • New bus stop ID poles with braille and tactile strips to meet accessibility standards and better direct customers.

The project is set to wrap up this summer.

Bus stop changes at 29th Avenue Station

 

Phase one bus stop moves

Route 16 and 33 bus stops will temporarily move as of January 24.

TransLink will be upgrading the 29th Avenue Station Exchange to improve customer access, safety and security.

During this upgrade work, temporary traffic patterns and bus stop location changes will occur.

Until mid-February, the regular stops for the 16 and 33 buses will be moved outside the bus loop.

The number 16 bus bay has been relocated to north side of 29th Avenue.

The number 33 bus bay has been relocated to south side of 29th Avenue.

The upgrades for this exchange will include:

  • A new bus bay to allow all buses to pick up and drop off within the bus loop.
  • Improved lighting, glass shelters and lower profile landscaping to make the bus loop more visible and safer.
  • Three new crosswalks to improve safety and access tot he bus loop and station.
  • New bus stop ID poles with braille and tactile strips to meet accessibility standards and better direct customers.

The entire project is set to wrap up Summer 2017.
