Job Action at Coast Mountain Bus Company
Coast Mountain Bus Company (CMBC) is currently in negotiations for a new collective bargaining agreement with Unifor Locals 111 and 2200, the unions that represent bus operators and maintenance workers for Metro Vancouver bus and SeaBus services. The parties have agreed to continue discussions with the assistance of mediation.

What this means for you
Currently, all transit services are running normally.
No job action has been announced, and the union is legally required to give Coast Mountain Bus Company at least 72-hours-notice before commencing job action.

A strike vote gives the union the legal ability and mandate to conduct job action but does not mean that they will necessarily announce job action.

No job action has been announced to date, but bus service operated by Coast Mountain Bus Company could be impacted by job action.
Could SeaBus service be impacted by job action?
No job action has been announced to date, but SeaBus services could be impacted by job action.
Could Route 257 to and from Horseshoe Bay be impacted by job action?
No job action has been announced to date, but this route is operated by Coast Mountain Bus Company and could be impacted by job action.
Could SkyTrain service be impacted by job action?
No. SkyTrain has a different employer and would not be impacted by job action by Unifor 111 or 2200.
Could West Vancouver Blue Bus be impacted by job action?
No. West Vancouver Blue Bus has a different employer and would not be impacted by job action by Unifor 111 or 2200.
Could Community Shuttle services operated in Bowen Island and Langley be impacted by job action?
No. The Community Shuttle services in those areas have different employers and would not be impacted by job action by Unifor 111 or 2200. Community shuttle routes outside of Langley or Bowen Island could be impacted.
Could HandyDART be impacted by job action?
No. HandyDART has a different employer and would not be impacted by job action by Unifor 111 or 2200.

“Coast Mountain Bus Company and Unifor Locals 111 and 2200 have agreed to continue discussions with the assistance of mediation.
CMBC remains committed to reaching a fair agreement and will not be commenting further at this time.”

“Coast Mountain Bus Company acknowledges the results of the vote held by Unifor Local 111 and Local 2200. CMBC remains committed to reaching a fair negotiated settlement.
Bus and SeaBus service continue to operate as normal.
CMBC and Unifor have upcoming negotiation dates scheduled. As negotiations are ongoing, CMBC will not be commenting further at this time in order to support good-faith bargaining.”
