Port Coquitlam bus reroutes for the May Day Parade
May 6, 2009
The 86th annual Rotary May Day Parade is on Saturday in Port Coquitlam. (86 — that’s almost as old as the Buzzer!)
Anyway, this all means some reroutes for buses on Saturday — the C36, C37, C37, C38, 159, and 160. Have a look at the Alerts page on the TransLink main site for all the changes. And enjoy the parade, if you’re going!
I love going to watch parades.
However I missed the old days where route change notices included maps to help those not familar with the neighbourhood to know which way to walk to catch transit. Any chance we can bring this back?
It would have been great a few years back when I was at Queen’s Park for the Hyack parade. Translink’s customer service operator could not tell which way to walk as she was not familar with the streets either.
At last year’s May Day parade, the bus driver wasn’t sure where the temporary route was either. I don’t believe the GPS is changed for a 5 hour event.
Hmmm… the new TMAC GPS system should automatically reroute drivers now — the folks at T-Comm can set up alerts for diverted routes, and when the operator signs onto the route, the reroute info will pop up on their computer screen. It’s fully in place since January so hopefully it works! Here’s a link to that blog post about T-Comm so you can see how those screens look like too.
