Reminder: westbound bus stop on University Blvd & Allison is closed
February 19, 2010
I’m bumping this topic up again to make sure people are aware!
We’ve been reporting this week that the westbound bus stop on University Boulevard at Allison has been closed for safety reasons. People were surging across the Boulevard and then across Wesbrook Mall, so now buses are going straight to the UBC Loop.
But please remember that buses are still taking customers to the UBC loop! We haven’t stopped UBC service—we’ve just closed that one stop.
As well, people who are not going to Thunderbird Arena and would normally get off at Allison may want to consider transferring from the 99 B-Line to a local bus (#9 or #17) at Sasamat & 10th and getting off at the Golf Course stop instead.
For westbound users taking the local buses (4, 9, 17), the closest stop to Allison is #50604 at Acadia Road, at a flashing pedestrian light. Google map link with street view available:

You can’t transfer to the 4 from the 99 unless you walk all the way to Blanca from Sasamat. The 9 only runs peak hours to UBC, so the 17 is really the one you want to transfer to for local service to UBC.
Ah so Eastbound is still open.
It’s only an extra stop to stay on so you can’t be in too much trouble. I know a lot of people consider getting off at Allison Road for the campus. This week, if the bus is too crowded I just enjoy sitting or standing still for an extra moment and walk from the bus loop.
Jordan:
Right you are. I should have noticed that! Anyway I’ve removed the 4 from the list now. I’ll keep the 9 & 17 there as options — hopefully people will read down and see your note. (Also, if you’re standing at Sasamat and 10th and it’s outside the 9’s UBC service period, you’ll only have the 17 as an option anyway — people will at least know of the existence of both!)
