Come to discussion sessions with TransLink’s CEO in June, talking about our 2011 plans
Come out to a community information session with our CEO in June!
Ian Jarvis, our Chief Executive Officer, will be providing an update on TransLink and discussing the priorities in our proposed 2011 Transportation and Financial Base Plan. Read about the proposed plan here.
A bit of background: every year, TransLink is required by law to develop a plan for our next 10 years of work, and that’s the 2011 plan Ian will be discussing in these sessions.
You might recall us doing a big consultation for last year’s plans. This year’s plan has a much more modest scale: it focuses on maintaining our existing transportation network while striving for further operational efficiencies and effectiveness.

Oh wow, new CEO again !!!!!!!
Oh, it’s not a new change: Ian’s been our CEO since Tom Prendergast left. Our board officially approved his appointment as CEO in February.
Didn’t the provincial government recently change the law so TransLink is no longer required to plan 10 years into the future, but only 3?
David: Yes, that recommendation did come out of the Comptroller General’s report, but the changes haven’t been put into our law yet. The changes are underway though: here is what I’m told by our planning department.
Hi Jennifer,
When the comptroller-general issued her recent report on TransLink, she made it clear that greater transparency is needed. That being said, why isn’t the 2011 Transportation and Financial Base Plan published on translink.ca? All previous plans were published. Why the secrecy? The public has a right to know how their funds will be used. It’s hard to get the public interested in the planning process when all that’s provided is a web page that really doesn’t tell anyone a whole lot.
Gary: I sent your question along and here’s the answer from the 10-Year Plan team.
Where is the funding gap money coming from on the translink regional part of the evergreenLine. That is the first priority Line from 2011 to 2013 as we all realize that the evergreenLine delays 3 times already first promised the same timeline as canadaLine last year in 2009 & later 2011 & now by 2014 but I heard the news again that the evergreenLine is delayed again starting construction from late 2010 to next spring 2011 & also the smartcard faregate system ready by 2013 but I not seen any public consultations giving the riders knowing there is fare system change when the expansion starting in 2011 & these are 2 upcoming big projects first between 2011 to 2013 ?
