Yet again forgotten in the list of reroutes when it comes to New Westminster events are the C3/C4. I know they’re not operated by Coast Mountain Bus Company, but last time I checked this website (and the main Rider Alert website) said TRANSLINK at the top, not CMBC.
Or maybe the Labour Relations Board made an error and Translink is the ultimate employer of CMBC employees, it certainly doesn’t look like there’s much difference between the two companies when it comes to public relations.
Well, the omission could certainly just be a small oversight. I will pass on your note and get confirmation that the reroutes are in place!
Matt: I’ve asked around after your inquiry, and we’ve found that the contractor had not notified us of any reroutes for the weekend. A call has been put in to double check but I am not sure I’ll get the information by the end of today! Anyway, your note has been brought forward to the customer information and planning staff and hopefully the notifications regarding the C3 and C4 will be more consistent in the future.
I’ve learned in the past this is often because the contractor is not notified himself about road closures (the company manager drives some shift, we chat).
There will indeed have to be a reroute, since these two routes go down Columbia Street.
There seems to be an ongoing communications problem, it sounds like Translink/CMBC is notified by the city but either the city (wouldn’t surprise me) or Translink/CMBC isn’t passing on these road closure notifications to the contractor. Another casualty of a fractured system and a reason not to ever expand contracting out.
