West Coast Express gets Compass!

You may have noticed on our some of our social channels and in the news yesterday that there was an announcement about Compass.
West Coast Express riders will be the next group of customers to receive the Compass card and start tap, tap, tapping on June 8!
Just a few benefits of using Compass include being able to load money at home, balance checking and protecting your balance if your card is lost of stolen.
By the end of the summer, we will see over 200,000 people using this system!

when will the general public be able to use compass?
Hi Raymond!
It’s definitely a process.
We have learned from transit agencies that it’s best to roll-out major technology and infrastructure projects like Compass in a staged approach.
We want to ensure we get things right for our customers, so we are proceeding in phases. We are currently rolling out Compass to U-Pass BC customers, followed by West Coast Express customers in June.
Our phased approach will give us the opportunity to evaluate the system over the summer, listen to customer feedback, and then make decisions about how best to proceed for everyone to use it.
I only occasionally use the Westcoast Express. How would I go about about getting an add fare for WCE with my 1 zone monthly farecard once WCE gets compass?
I catch a bus, then the WCE and finally the Seabus, all using my WCE ticket. Is my fare going to change using the Compass Card?
Hey folks, I’m just checking with the Compass team and I’ll get back to you about your questions asap!
Ric,
Discounts for existing paper-fare media will not be available with Compass, however, you’ll be able to purchase Stored Value on a Compass Card and get a 17 per cent discount over your current WCE cash fare.
MichaelM,
If you’re travelling on the TransLink system the entire time, your fare will not change, regardless of whether you use a Monthly Pass, Day Pass or cash. In even better news, if you purchase your trip with Stored Value on a Compass Card, you’ll get a 17 per cent discount over cash, so it will be cheaper!
