TransLink’s Surrey Central Station project is the recipient of three City of Surrey Civic Distinction Awards!

The city presents these awards of excellence to acknowledge business and community leaders who have made a major contribution to the City of Surrey in their respective fields.

The north stationhouse at SkyTrain’s Surrey Central Station received an award of excellence in the Landscape, Public Space & Infrastructure, and Renovation & Adaptive Reuse categories.

The stationhouse, which opened in 2019, features two new entrances to Surrey Central Station with access to City Parkway and Central Avenue, three new escalators, one elevator and three staircases, as well as new lighting and glass walls improving design, safety and security.

The station also features a wood sculpture suspended from the ceiling by Indigneous artist Marianne Nicolson. This public art installation, titled The Sea Captain, received an honourable mention as part of the awards.
