PHOTOS: Tour these 6 transit-friendly fall photography spots in Vancouver

Metro Vancouver turns into a picture-perfect colour palette when it’s the fall season. It’s one the reasons why photographers take advantage of the natural backdrop and warm lighting created by the drying red, yellow, and orange leaves.

We want you to make the most of this once-a-year photo op, so here’s a list of transit-friendly places to take fabulous fall photos in Vancouver. With each place being a transit ride or steps away from each other, you can visit them all in a day!

1. Stanley Park

With trees surrounding Stanley Park, it’s 360 degrees of fall colours, making it a perfect location for landscape photography! Start your trip by taking the 19 bus to Stanley Park. Keep your eyes peeled out the window as fall colours start to shine at the park entrance between Denman and Georgia.

2. Coal Harbour

Coal Harbour is a great location for family or wedding photoshoots since you have fall foliage and waterfront views in one! You can either take the 19 bus to Georgia Street and walk from the Denman Street stop to Coal Harbour, or walk from Waterfront Station.

3. Gastown

Fall colours complement the buildings and attractions in Gastown making it a sweet spot for fashion and street photography. And, it’s conveniently served by many Downtown Vancouver bus routes and is just steps away from Waterfront Station.

4. Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden

Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden is another stunning location for wedding and family photography! With an array of colours and geometry surrounding the place, anyone wearing simple white outfit would easily stand out from the background. With just a few steps away from Coal Harbour and Gastown, you can get a variety of sceneries in a single photoshoot.

5. VanDusen Botanical Garden

VanDusen Botanical Garden is a great photography location if you’d like to limit your background to one to three colours. The Autumn Stroll exhibit is rich in yellow, green, orange colours from the foliage and black silhouette and shadows from trees. Ride the 17 bus along Oak Street to West 37th Avenue.

Just across the street of VanDusen Botanical Garden and beside Oak Meadows Park is this row of trees creating a nice and natural yellow backdrop, perfect for that leading line shot!

 

6. Queen Elizabeth Park

Last stop and a few steps away from VanDusen Garden is Queen Elizabeth Park, a great photography and hangout location! Bring snacks to end your photography session while taking in the fall foliage.
