The faint sound of jingle bells in the distance, lights decking the halls of malls, Mariah Carey on repeat, and those red holiday cups in the hands of Metro Vancouverites are all tell-tale signs the holidays are just around the corner.

We’re excited to kick off the holiday season by taking you to the Surrey Tree Lighting Festival – Surrey’s free, annual holiday celebration at Surrey Civic Plaza.

What to do

The Surrey Tree Lighting Festival is an enchanting event for all ages sure to dazzle you with lights, live performances, enchanted eats, rides, and a local holiday market. Take in a variety of festive live entertainment including local performers, choirs, dance battles, and DJs. Shop the holiday market for unique gifts from local artisans and crafters. Explore twinkling light displays, take a ride on the Ferris wheel, grab a free photo with Santa, and of course, watch Surrey’s 60-foot Christmas tree light up the plaza at 6:30 p.m.

The TransLink team will be at the event with our articulated RapidBus and a fun bean bag game challenge!

How to give back

Bring a new unwrapped toy or game for our annual Toys for Tots drive in exchange for a RapidBus shirt (while supplies last), and help us fill the ReindeerBus for the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau.
