Here’s where you can find cherry blossoms near the SkyTrain’s Expo Line
What started as a gift from the Japanese over 90 years ago, the cherry blossom trees have become an iconic part of Metro Vancouver. Its light, brightly coloured petals signal the emergence of spring.
The trees are abundant in the region. With the help of the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival’s Blossom Finder, we want to tell you about the top spots to see cherry blossoms along the SkyTrain’s Expo Line! (Psst… you may want to bring a good camera!)
Waterfront Station
Travelling through one of our busiest transit hubs? Cherry blossoms await you as you walk towards Canada Place — a truly unique view as you’ll be surrounded by water and sails on one side, and the bustling high-rises of Downtown Vancouver on the other.
Burrard Station
That’s right! Coming right out from station, you’ll be immediately rewarded with a sea of pink, where the cherry blossoms are marking their spot! The shortest trip from the Expo Line on this list, it’s a great spot — rain or shine!
Stadium–Chinatown Station / Andy Livingstone Park
Just a few minutes’ walk from Stadium–Chinatown Station, you’ll be surrounded by a park filled with these trees! On top of that, there are trails, ponds, and a dog off-leash area in the park to keep you occupied!
Joyce–Collingwood Station
You’re minutes away from many clusters of cherry blossom trees around here as dainty, pink petals carpet the residential areas here.
Metrotown Station / Burnaby Civic Square
A perfect balance between city and nature, you’ll find the Burnaby Civic Square just minutes away from Metrotown Station! Not only is there just this beautiful patch of greenery surrounded by the Burnaby skyline, you’ll find other residential hidden gems just minutes away on the other side of this Expo Line station.
