Following last summer’s successful run, Car Free Days of Summer is back! It brings together local musicians, artists, organizations, and businesses to transform downtown cores into pedestrian-friendly spaces.

First up is Car Free Day Surrey, which returns to Newton on Saturday, June 10! It kicks off at noon and goes until 8 p.m. as 137 Street, between 72A Avenue and 74 Street transforms into a vibrant celebration of community, sustainability, and alternative transportation. Did we mention that it’s FREE?

Take the car-free pledge

At the TransLink Zone (hosted by us, of course!), pledge to go car free this summer. Learn about your climate impact through games and prizes. Be sure to stop by and say hi to us there!

Music and dance take the stage

The event features a jam-packed list of music and dance performances across three stages. Among the performers is Luv Randhawa, who is known as the pioneer of the Bhangra Fusion Movement, Glisha, Hallelujah Hailu, and Hayley Wallis. Higher Ground Dance Company also hosts a breakdance battle.

Family-friendly fun

There’s plenty to see and lots to keep the little ones entertained! Catch Matt Henry, the comedic juggler extraordinaire, along with free face painting, a bounce house and roving entertainers in the Family Zone. Other activities include mini golf, giant Jenga, Connect 4, and more!

How do I get there?

Just a few steps north of the Newton Exchange, it’s accessible by all the buses there! Check the schedules by finding your bus here:
