The second Car Free Day of the year is here! It’s in New Westminster, with local musicians, artists, organizations, and businesses transforming this downtown core into a pedestrian-friendly space.
Held along Columbia Street, between Fourth Street and Eighth Street, this area transforms into a street party for all ages, celebrating community, sustainability, and alternative transportation. Did we also mention it’s FREE?

Live entertainment — all-day long
This Car-Free Day features a main stage, dance/DJ space, and kids zone. The main stage features performances from many local artists, while the other dance/DJ Space will have break dance battles and DJ performances. Lastly, there’s also a kids zone featuring eye-catching yo-yo-ing, juggling, and musical performances!
Plenty to eat and explore!
Nine food trucks ranging from tornado potatoes to handcrafted pastas will keep your hunger satisfied. Not only that, 19 local vendors will be stationed around with unique goods!
How do I get there?
Situated along Columbia Street between Fourth and Eighth streets, this Car Free Day is accessible by two SkyTrain stations and its buses:
- New Westminster Station (served by bus route 103 Quayside, 105 Uptown, 106 Edmonds Station, 109 Lougheed Station, and 112 Edmonds Station)
- Columbia Station (served by bus route 103 Quayside / Victoria Hill, 105 New West Station, and 109 New West Station / Lougheed Station)
