It’s the last long weekend of the summer season! Before you see the leaves fall, and the textbooks loaded into backpacks, here are some events in Metro Vancouver to close off the season!

1. Pacific National Exhibition (PNE)

📅: Until September 4

Featuring amazing food, rides, exhibits, and concerts, this Vancouver fair is a must visit. During the Labour Day weekend, attend the Summer Night Concerts featuring performances by Jason Derulo, Stars of Drag, Walk off the Earth, and Blue Rodeo!

Be sure to also stop by at all three of our exhibits, featuring unique transit history, buses, and prizes!

Pro tip: Save on admission with TransLink’s 2-for-1 Fair Fridays! The first 5,000 to show their Compass Card or proof of fare on Friday receive two-for-one admission.

2. Victory Square Block Party

📅: Sunday, September 3

⏰: 2 p.m.

📍: Victory Square Park (Vancouver)

This free, all-ages community event is a “lay-down-your-blanket” style concert. It’s featuring independent musicians such as Dani Your Darling, Doozy, Ma$$ank, VOT, and Clara Sanchez.

Can’t attend? The concert will be broadcast live on CiTR 101.9 FM.

3. Nikkei Matsuri

📅: Friday, September 1 to Sunday, September 3

⏰: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

📍: Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre (Burnaby)

🚇: 15-minute walk from Edmonds Station, also served by 119 Metrotown Stn / Edmonds Stn, 147 Edmonds Stn / Metrotown Stn, 148 Royal Oak Stn / Edmonds Stn

Celebrate Japanese culture with this annual festival, featuring food, traditional art, and pop-culture displays!

Tickets are $8 when bought in advance, or $10 at the door (taxes not included).

4. Richmond Night Market

📅: Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays until October 9

⏰: 7 p.m. to midnight (Fridays), 6 p.m. to midnight (Saturdays and long-weekend Sundays) and 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. (Sundays and long weekend Mondays)

📍: 8351 River Road (Richmond)

🚇: 4-minute walk from Bridgeport Station

Steps from the Canada Line, this event features a variety of Asian food, games, shops, and entertainment. Lineups can get long later evening, so be sure to get there early!

5. Polish Festival

📅: Sunday, September 3

⏰: 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.

📍: Shipbuilder’s Square (North Vancouver)

🚇: Lonsdale Quay SeaBus Terminal

Celebrate Polish culture at this free and transit-friendly festival! It features performances ranging from folk dancing to a dance party with a Polish rock band. Experience Polish cuisine such as pierogies and Polish beer.

Be sure to also check out the exhibition celebrating the 550th birthday of Polish mathematician and astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus!

6. Charcuterie on the Pier

📅: Saturday, September 2

⏰: 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.

📍: White Rock Pier

🚇: 321 White Rock / Newton / Surrey Ctrl Stn, 351 White Rock Ctr / Bridgeport Stn, 361 Ocean Park / White Rock Centre, 362 Seaside / White Rock Centre

Watch as they attempt a Guinness World Record at the White Rock Pier for the longest charcuterie board. Ticket holders will be able to enjoy charcuterie from this potentially record-breaking board. You’ll also receive a souvenir charcuterie board and certificate of attendance to commemorate the feat!
