Take transit to Metro Vancouver’s beaches!
We are so lucky to have so many beautiful beaches accessible to us in Metro Vancouver.
While stunning, getting to the beach and finding a parking spot can be frustrating, especially if you plan on sleeping in past 8 a.m. Luckily, many of Metro Vancouver’s beaches are accessible by transit, so you can skip driving and finding parking.
We’ve compiled a selection of Metro Vancouver beaches along with popular nearby transit options! Visit translink.ca/tripplanner for more route options, details, and to plan your trip.
Ambleside Park
π Location: 1150 Marine Dr, West Vancouver
π Buses: 250 Vancouver/Horseshoe Bay, 257 Vancouver/Horseshoe Bay Express
π‘ Good to know: Ambleside has a little 18-hole pitch-and-putt golf course. Clubs can be rented, so no need to bring them with you if you feel like golfing after or before your beach visit.
Barnet Marine Park
π Location:Β 8181 Barnet Rd, Burnaby
π Bus: 160 Port Coquitlam Station/Kootenay Loop
π‘ Good to know:Β The beach is just one of the main things you can do. The park has it all β including trails, fishing, an off-leash dog area, picnic areas, and a bike skills park.
English Bay Beach
π Location: Beach Ave, Vancouver
π Buses: 5 Downtown/Robson,Β 6 Downtown/Davie, 23 Beach/Main Street Station
π‘ Good to know: Try renting a kayak at English Bay, or if you’re looking for something more restful, a beach chair and umbrella!
Crescent Beach
π Location: Beecher St, Surrey
π Bus: 350 Crescent Beach/White Rock Centre
π‘ Good to know:Β Enjoy swimming, beach volleyball and scenic views from the pier and nature trails.
Dundarave Park
π Location: Marine Dr, West Vancouver
π Buses: 250 Vancouver/Horseshoe Bay, 257 Vancouver/Horseshoe Bay Express
π‘ Good to know: There’s also a kids playground and the park is the start of the Centennial Seawalk.
Jericho Beach
π Location: 3941 Point Grey Rd, Vancouver
π Buses: 4 Powell/UBC, 44 UBC/Downtown, 84 UBC/VCCβClark Station
π‘ Good to know: This is a great sunset spot! Plan your trip accordingly to arrive just in time to grab a spot and enjoy the view.
Kitsilano Beach
π Location: Cornwall Ave and the north end of Yew St., Vancouver
π Bus: 2 Macdonald/Burrard Station
π‘ Good to know: Their famous, 137-metre outdoor pool is open until in the summer until mid-September, but be sure to pre-register to ensure you’ve got a swimming spot. It’s not necessary but recommended.
Spanish Banks
π Location: 4801 NW Marine Dr, Vancouver
π Buses: 44 UBC/Downtown, 84 UBC/VCCβClark Station
π‘ Good to know: Spanish Banks is divided into three areas: the east, west and extension. While they all have great views, they also have different rules so be sure to check before you go.
Sunset Beach
π Location: 1204 Beach Ave, Vancouver
π Buses: 2 Macdonald/Burrard Station, 23 Beach/Main Street Station
π‘ Good to know: The Aquabus can take you over to Granville Island if you’re looking to extend your day for only $9. It’s a short ride and fun for kids.
White Pine Beach
π Location:Β Belcarra Regional Park, Port Moody
π Bus:Β 150 White Pine Beach/Coquitlam Central Station (seasonal route from about mid-April to Labour Day)
π‘ Good to know:Β Part of Belcarra Regional Park, its forested trails, rocky beaches and mountain views make this regional park a βgreat place to explore year round.
Don’t forget your beach-day essentials too:
- small soft cooler with lunch and snacks (soft so that it can be folded away after lunch)
- a towel
- a blanket to sit on
- sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses
- swimsuit
- your Compass Card to hop on transit
- a book, if you’re a reader
- a charged-up phone to take Trip Planner with you
- a small backpack or tote to carry everything in
