Taking transit to Honda Celebration of Light fireworks? What you need to know
Taking transit to Honda Celebration of Light fireworks? What you need to know
The Honda Celebration of Light is an annual fireworks competition at English Bay. In previous years, it’s between three different countries but this year, it’s between three Canadian provinces — Yukon, Quebec, and Nova Scotia.
As this event is attended by thousands, we’re adding a ‘Special’ bus service to take customers to and from the fireworks events on July 19 (Yukon), July 23 (Quebec), and July 26 (Nova Scotia).
Event schedule:
- 2:00 p.m. – Food trucks open
- 6:30 p.m. (July 19 and 23 only) – Snowbirds, The Royal Canadian Airforce’s 43 Air Demonstration Squadrom
- 10:00 p.m. – Electric Drone Show
- 10:15 p.m. – Fireworks show
You may choose to find your own spot along English Bay beach and watch the show for free, or purchase tickets for the grandstand, which offers reserved bleacher seating with elevated and direct view of the fireworks show.
If you’re coming for the free experience, plan ahead and arrive early if you can. The earlier you get there, the better chance you have at securing a good spot. Remember to bring your own foldable chairs or blanket for a comfortable outdoor viewing experience.
You can pay for your fare using your Compass Card, by purchasing a Compass Ticket at Compass Vending Machines, or by tapping your Interac debit and credit card or mobile wallet.

Last year after the Wed night fireworks, we were picked up at stop # 58008 southbound out of Stanley Park. On the Saturday night after the fireworks, 2 trolley buses came by us with the NIS sign up and we were left stranded there with no advance indication this was happening until the day of. This year I have been on phone twice both times told the #19 bus shows it operating as usual leaving Stanley Park on the Wed and Saturday night but I am dubious as even the rep said they don’t put up stuff sometimes until the last minute. This is not acceptable. Put out an alert at very least if you aren’t going to be picking people up.
