Take transit to the first Car Free Day: Burnaby

Inflatable Car Free Day arch at Car Free Day Surrey

The Car Free Days of Summer continue with Car Free Day: Burnaby! It’s takes place on Sunday, Aug. 31, noon to 5 p.m. in Burnaby’s Highgate neighbourhood.

We’ll be there, along with local businesses, food trucks and shoppable vendor booths. A whole part of the street is sectioned off to keep it car free, so transit is the best way to get there.

How to get there by transit

Car Free Day: Burnaby takes place on Edmonds Street, between Kingsway and Mary Avenues.

Edmonds Station (Expo Line) is about a 20-minute walk to the Car Free Day location. A free shuttle is operating from Edmonds Station. You can also ride 119 Kingsway or 133 Edmonds Station/Holdom Station buses to Kingsway and Edmonds Street.

Pro tip: transit is just a one-zone fare all day on weekends/holidays. You can tap to pay an adult cash fare using a contactless credit or debit card. Bringing the whole crew? Remember, kids under 12 ride transit for free every day, so make it a family outing!

How to get there by cycling

Ride your bike to Car Free Day: Burnaby! It’s easily accessible via the Highland Park Line Trail and BC Parkway.

Once you’re there, park your bike at the free Bike Valet, which is open 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. A bike valet is like a coat check, but for your bike. It also accepts e-bikes, strollers, and scooters.
