Congratulations to Rick Laidlaw: driving buses for 35 years with a perfect safety record!

The Tri-City News ran a story on transit operator Rick Laidlaw, who has been driving buses for 35 years and has never had an accident! Over the years, Coast Mountain Bus Company has estimated that Rick has picked up and dropped off an estimated 2.2 million passengers, and travelled the equivalent of a trip to the moon and back. A huge accomplishment, and a big congratulations to Rick!
Wow! Wish I could have that kind of safe driving record- I’m an awful driver! But that’s why I take transit and let TransLink drive for me! ;) Congrats Rick!
Well done, Rick! Not an easy accomplishment by any means, especially in Vancouver traffic!
Well done, Rick. It’s not easy to drive for 35 years with out any accidents, especially in Greater Vancouver.
So does this mean that it will take you 35 years for a roundtrip to the moon when using public transit?
xD
And his last name is Laidlaw! How perfect:

Tim:
I wonder how many zones that trip would be?
It would be roughly 25,000 zones. Trouble is your ticket is only good for 90 minutes!
Gah, 25,000 zones! Too funny!
Congrats Rick!
I was very happy to receive my own 5 year Safe Driving award a few of years ago now… and last year I also got may 20 Years of Service award too..
It is a nice feeling to get some sort of recognition from time to time…
A few weeks ago, after Earth Hour, someone said that if we practiced Earth Hour every day we could send the Skytrain to the _Sun_ and back 13 times… at the time I wondered how many zones that would be… if the Moon is 25,000 zones, I’d hate to think how many zones to the Sun. (I used 15 km per zone to calculate the 25,000)
My thoughts echo Ric’s pretty much. 35 years and not a single accident driving in Vancouver?
How does he walk around comfortably with the horseshoe being where it is? ;)
Congratulations Rick! Btw that’s a nice looking C40LFR you got there. ;)
