Surrey Vaisakhi parade reroutes, Sat Apr 17
Heads up, Surrey transit riders!
Saturday, April 17 marks Surrey’s annual Vaisakhi parade and celebration, which usually attracts up to 80,000 to 200,000 spectators. Expect numerous road closures, plus reroutes for transit buses travelling near the festivities for the majority of the day.
The parade and celebrations start at 10 a.m. at the Gurdwara Dashmesh Darbar Temple along 85 Avenue and 128th Street in Surrey, and continues along to 128th Street and over to the Newton Athletic Park—it will return along the same route. (Here’s the parade route map!)
There will be detours around the celebrations and road closures for the following routes:
- 323 Surrey Central
- 323 Newton Exchange
- 324 Newton Exchange
- 324 Surrey Central
- 329 Scottsdale Exchange
- 329 Surrey Central

I was out at the south Surrey Wal-Mart this morning, and most of their staff were already celebrating! Many of them were all dressed up in their native dress… It was quite interesting…
