Bus reroutes for Pride Week, the fireworks, the Powell Street festival, and more! Sat July 31 – Mon Aug 2
Wow — this long weekend is going to be the busiest one so far! Pride Week is on in and around the West End, coinciding with the final night of the Celebration of Lights fireworks competition at English Bay. Plus there’s many other festivals this weekend: the Powell Street festival, the 12th Street festival and more. See below for full details!
Friday, July 30
Effective from 3pm to 1am on Saturday, the Vancouver Pride Society will be holding their annual Dance on Davie Event on Davie Street between Burrard & Bute Streets. The following routes will be detoured: # C21, C23, 5 & 6.
Saturday, July 31
Effective from 9am to 1pm, the Heritage Day Parade will take place on 224th Street from Selkirk to 124 Street in Maple Ridge. The following routes will be detoured: # C43, C44, C45, C46, C47, C48, C49 & 701.
Effective from 11:30am to 4pm, the annual Vancouver Dyke March & Festival will be held on Commercial Drive between 6th Avenue and Charles Street. The following route will be detoured: # 20
Effective from 7:30pm to 11pm (approximately), the annual Celebration of Lights fireworks competition and display (night #4) continues at English Bay closing many streets in the West End of Vancouver. The following routes will be detoured: # C21, C23, 005, 006 & 022.
In addition, passenger and traffic volumes will be significantly increased in and around the downtown area with possible delays. Additional travel time & patience should be considered. Please see this fireworks service post for more information!
Saturday, July 31 and Sunday, August 1
Effective from 8am Saturday to 8pm Sunday inclusive, The City of Vancouver will be hosting their Annual Powell Street Festival on Powell Street between Dunlevy & Jackson Streets (Oppenheimer Park area). The following routes will be detoured for the entire duration of this event: # 004, 007, 210 & 211.
Effective from 10am to the last bus of the day on Saturday and from 3 to 4pm on Sunday, the City of White Rock will be hosting their annual Spirit of the Sea Festival. Marine Drive will be closed on both days between Nichol Road and State. The following routes will be detoured: # C51 & C52.
Sunday, August 1
Effective from 6am to 6pm, the Vancouver Pride Society will be holding their annual parade. The parade will form on Robson Street between Nicola & Gilford Streets then proceed via Denman, Beach, and Pacific to Thurlow. The following routes will be detoured: # C21, C23, 005 & 006.
Effective from 9am to 6pm, the City of New Westminster will be hosting their 12th Street Festival on 12th Street between 6th & 8th Avenues. The following route will be detoured: # 112
Monday, August 2nd – BC Day
Effective from 11am to 12:30pm, the Tsawwassen Sun Festival Society will hold their annual parade on 56th Street between 16th Avenue and Winskill Park (9th Avenue). The following route will be detoured: # 601.
