As part of the station upgrades at Metrotown station, work needs to be done to strengthen the platform.
Because of this, SkyTrain will be single tracking at this station as well as Patterson.
Work is scheduled for January 17 to January 28, Sundays through Thursdays from 9pm until the end of service.
During these times the Millennium Line will operate from VCC-Clark to Columbia only.
Please note!
Be sure to allow 12-15 minutes extra travel time on these nights.
The start of work will be delayed on special event evenings to accommodate crowds .
Passengers can stay up-to-date throughout construction by visiting translink.ca/OnTrack.

Does anyone know if the new pedestrian bridge at Metrotown will be wider/have more capacity than the current completely inadequate one?
Hi Joey, Currently the concept is to increase the width by approx. 2 m. However, the design stage is not started yet. We’ll be sure to share any updates when they happen. Thanks!
What does the floor plan look like in detail for each floor of the renovated station plan? What does the new elevator layout look like? Are the new elevators going to use Machine-Room-Less (MRL) traction? I rode many elevators on the SkyTrain network and most of them (exempt are New Westminster station to Westbound platform and Main Street-Science World station) are too slow because they are hydraulic-driven rather than MRL traction-driven! New elevators being installed should be MRL traction (This elevator/lift is still quick to move people from Concourse (C) to Platform (P) even though it is not crazy fast yet not terribly slow either: https://youtu.be/vYXtoMWi6uA)!
This is the best you’re likely to get. The passerelle (overhead walkway) has been moved over to the center stationhouse.

@Adrienne: thanks very much for that info! You’re the first person who’s had an answer on that front.
Really hope they make it as wide as feasible—it’s such a bottleneck right now. To me, a 2m increase would be the bare minimum.
I know they’re widening the Commercial–Broadway bridge over Broadway (again) and that one is probably significantly wider than the current Metrotown one already. Anyway, really hope they build for the future. ?
