The Sikh communities in the region are gathering to celebrate Vaisakhi, marking of the birth of the Sikh faith, the creation of the Khalsa and celebrating the beginning of the spring Punjabi harvest.

Vancouver’s celebrations took place last weekend. Next up is Surrey with one of the largest Vaisakhi celebrations outside India boasting over 350,000 festival-goers in 2016!

This means from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. on this coming Saturday, April 22 many buses in the area will need to be rerouted to allow for the parade route and crowds.

The parade will begin at Gurdwara Sahib Dasmesh Darbar at 9 a.m. and finish around 6 p.m. at the same location.
