‘Tis the season for toys! Toys for Tots returns for 32nd year
Sparky the Elf, on behalf of TransLink and its operating companies, upped the ante today by committing to a donation of 3.500 unwrapped toys to the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau (LMCB) this holiday season. That’s 500 more than last year’s commitment!
A group of driven BC Transit operators from the Surrey Transit Centre, who wanted to give back to their communities during the holiday season, started the Toys for Tots campaign way back in 1985. Since its inception, TransLink enterprise employees have dug deep annually to fill our Reindeer Bus and Reindeer Shuttle full of toys for less-fortunate families. This year is no different!
Donations have been piling up in collection boxes placed at our transit centres, TransLink Lost Property as well as HQs for TransLink, Coast Mountain Bus Company, British Columbia Rapid Transit Company and Transit Police. Our Reindeer Bus and Reindeer Shuttle—accompanied by Santa, Mrs.Claus, Sparky the Elf, and a few other holiday helpers—are currently en route collecting packages of holiday joy generously donated by staff and customers around the region.

As always, this annual initiative wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity from all of our staff enterprise wide, committed to making the holiday season a little brighter for those in need.
So far, TransLink and its operating companies delivered 3,021 unwrapped toys to the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau with more to come.
