On Sunday, April 22, an estimated 40,000+ will lace up their runners and join Canada’s biggest start line for the 34th annual Vancouver Sun Run. To help start your Sun Run on the right foot, we’re adding service to help get you to the event.
Expo and Millennium Line service will start half an hour earlier, and will operate at “rush hour” level service prior to the start of the race and in the afternoon until crowds clear before resuming typical Sunday service.

West Coast Express
A special Sun Run train will depart Mission City at 7:00 a.m., stopping at all West Coast Express stations along the way, arriving at Waterfront Station at approximately 8:15 a.m. This train is expected to be quite busy, so please arrive at your station at least 20 minutes before your departure time. After the race, the train will leave Vancouver at 1:00 p.m.
**Please be advised that two unions working for CP Rail are in a position to strike as early as this weekend. We are monitoring the situation closely for any impacts this may have on West Coast Express service. Should a strike take place, and West Coast Express service is disrupted, we will provide buses to connect customers travelling from Mission City, Port Haney, Maple Meadow, Pitt Meadows and Port Coquitlam West Coast Express stations with SkyTrain at Coquitlam Central Station.**
SeaBus will begin service at 7:00 am from Lonsdale Quay.
Various bus routes throughout Vancouver will be detoured for the race course. This may affect your transit trip on Sunday, so make sure you know before you go, and check out our alerts page for a full list of detours and route changes.
Plan ahead! Make sure to load up your Compass Card with Stored Value or pre-purchase your return Compass Tickets at a Compass Vending Machine prior to the race.
