2019 was another busy year for TransLink. We celebrated many milestones including 10 years of I Love Transit!

This year’s celebrations included, among other things, a free week of bus rides for K-12 students, an interview with one of our favourite retired bus operators, a chat with one of Metro Vancouver’s favourite Wayfinding experts, contests and so much more!

The Buzzer team’s personal favourite part of the I Love Transit festivities is I Love Transit Camp – a one day, all-inclusive field trip for one lucky Metro Vancouver class. Each year, we ask teachers and their students to unleash their inner explorers and take learning beyond the classroom for a chance to win.

Our 2019 theme was A Greater Vancouver — the future of transportation in Metro Vancouver. This year, we had a record number of entries into our I Love Transit contests for Metro Vancouver schools. These entries included robust, detailed and tremendously creative videos showing what these amazing youth see for the future of transportation in Metro Vancouver.

With the help of Parliamentary Secretary Bowinn Ma, Ms. Lucas’ Grade 4/5 class from Royal Heights Elementary School in Surrey were crowned winners of I Love Transit Camp 2019. Have a watch below to see their reaction to winning, as well as follow along on their I Love Transit Camp experience.
