Take transit to Cirque du Soleil

Cirque du Soleil has returned with a new production of Alegría in Vancouver. This reimagined version comes to city for the first time and is the first Big Top event to open in Canada since the start of the pandemic.

One of the most beloved Cirque du Soleil shows, Alegría (‘joy’ in Spanish) first premiered in 1994. The show has been seen by over 14 million people in 255 cities across 40 countries. Alegría features stunning acrobatics, dazzling costumes, vibrant sets, and Cirque du Soleil’s patented playful humour.

Shows are running until June 5 at Concord Pacific Place, conveniently located close to the Stadium–Chinatown and Main Street–Science World SkyTrain Stations, and serviced by several bus routes. Use the Trip Planner to plan the best route for you.

As major entertainment events come back to Vancouver after nearly two years, there’s even more incentive to head to the show on transit. TransLink customers can get a 10 per cent discount on all Alegría show dates by using the code: TLSG10.

“It’s an exciting time for people in the city as we get back to doing the things we love. We’re happy to help Metro Vancouver residents reconnect by taking transit to this one-of-a-kind show,” says TransLink CEO, Kevin Quinn.

So, leave the car at home and enjoy the sights and sounds of Cirque du Soleil’s return to Vancouver!

Taking transit to the show is easy. To pay your transit fare, just tap your contactless Visa, Mastercard, or American Express credit cards or mobile wallets (Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay) on Compass readers onboard buses and at faregates.

Tap in only on buses, tap in and out at SkyTrain stations and SeaBus terminals. Your credit card or mobile device will be your proof of payment, and you will have 90 minutes to transfer across bus, SeaBus and SkyTrain services.

Want to unlock discounted transit rates? Pick up a Compass Card. If you’re taking transit from outside the City of Vancouver, travel after 6:30 p.m. on weekdays or all day on weekends and holidays to only pay a one-zone fare.
