Take transit to Lonsdale Quay: Summer fun-tivities in one place

North Vancouver sits in-between the Burrard Inlet and the North Shore mountains making it a great summer destination with many activities to offer by the water or up the mountains.

As broad as North Van is, look no further as you can do many summer activities at or from Lonsdale Quay alone.

Taking transit is easy! The SeaBus and various buses drop you off right at Lonsdale Quay Exchange and these destinations are just a few steps away.

Shipyards Live

What: Live entertainment, pop-up beverage garden, food trucks, and splash parks

When: Fridays from 3 – 10 p.m. until Sept. 2

Where: The Shipyards

Deckchair Cinema and The Polygon Gallery

What: With admission by donation, watch a movie and gain access to the exhibit at The Polygon Gallery.

When: Screenings begin at sunset (between 9 – 9:15 p.m.) on Thursdays from July 7th – August 11th.

Where: Cates Deck by the Polygon Gallery

Beer crawl along Esplanade

What: There are five unique breweries along East Esplanade, just a block away from Lonsdale Quay.

When: Hours vary but a few breweries are open until late on Fridays and the weekend.

Where: East Esplanade and Lonsdale Avenue

Ride along Spirit Trail

What: This 6.1-kilometre Spirit Trail is mostly flat and is great for walking, cycling, roller blading, skateboarding, and more.

Where: It starts from Waterfront Park and takes you from Lower Lonsdale to West Vancouver, or Downtown Vancouver if taking the Lions Gate Bridge.

Shop and dine at Lonsdale Quay Market

What: Bring your reusable bag as it may be hard to resist shopping from local boutiques and a farmer’s market on the weekend at the Lonsdale Quay Market. There is also a food court and seating that faces the beautiful scenery of the Burrard Inlet.

When: Open every day from 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Picnic at Waterfront Park

What: A harbourside park with some picnic tables, playground, a dog park, and walking trails.

When: Open every day from 8 a.m. – 11 p.m.

Where: 200 Esplanade West

Car Free Day North Vancouver

Mostly Teal Ride and Shine bus framed between the green grass and tree branches

What: Extending along Carrie Cates Court is Car Free Day festival with performances, booths, food trucks, and fun tour buses to check out! Snap a photo if you see our Ride and Shine bus!

When: Sept. 17, 2022 from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Where: Carrie Cates Court

There are other activities you can do further up North Vancouver from Lonsdale Quay.

Hike the Grouse Grind

What: Known as “Mother Nature’s Stairmaster”, this 2.5-kilometre trail is a serious hike for anyone looking to challenge themselves. If this will be your first time, make sure to pack lightly! There are restaurants and cafés on the mountain that can help you refuel.

When: Open every day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Where: Grouse Mountain

Transit: From Lonsdale Quay, take route 236 to Grouse Mountain. Otherwise, find your best route at our Trip Planner.

If an intense hike is not up your alley, you can still take in the North Shore mountains by exploring the Cleveland Dam, the Capilano Suspension Bridge, and/or Lynn Canyon.

Explore Cleveland Dam

What: A long-standing dam built in 1954 located atop Capilano River Regional Park. On one side, you’ll see the 92-metre-high dam, and on the other, the Capilano Lake and the peaks of the Lions serving as a picturesque backdrop.

Walk the Capilano Suspension Bridge

What: One of Vancouver’s top destinations, the Capilano Suspension Bridge is 450-feet long bridge crossing the Capilano River with stunning views and lots of nature activities. B.C. residents receive a complimentary annual pass when they purchase a regular-priced day ticket.

When: Open every day from 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Where: 3735 Capilano Road

Transit: From Lonsdale Quay, take route 236 at Capilano Road @ 3600 Block. Otherwise, find your best route at our Trip Planner.

Explore Lynn Canyon

What: You can hike, walk on a short suspension bridge, and even swim at the 30-foot pool for free at Lynn Canyon!

Where: 3663 Park Rd

Transit: From Lonsdale Quay, take route 228 to Lynn Valley Rd @ Burrill Ave. Otherwise, find your best route at our Trip Planner.
