Changes to Canada Line service in Richmond, July 10–14 after 10:30 p.m.

Do you ride the Canada Line to, from, or between Bridgeport, Aberdeen, Lansdowne, and Richmond–Brighouse station after 10:30 p.m.? If so, read on!

Between July 10 and 14, SkyTrain service at these stations end at 10:30 p.m. and a bus bridge (i.e. extra buses) will operate in its place until the end of service at 1:35 a.m.  Here’s what you need to know:

  • Customers will change to a bus after 10:30 p.m. The buses will operate up to every 10 minutes.
  • The extra buses will stop at each station (i.e., Lansdowne, Aberdeen and Richmond–Brighouse).
  • The extra buses will depart from Bay 10 at Bridgeport Station and Bay 1 at Richmond–Brighouse Station. Signage will be on site to assist customers.
  • Regular service will resume each morning.

This temporary change is so we can complete the next phase of construction at Capstan Station, which is taking place extremely close to the guideway. Crews will be installing the pieces of the station’s steel structure using large cranes. Each column weighs approximately 16,000 lbs. and will be lifted into place using cranes onto bolts embedded in the concrete foundation.

Crews work on one of the station’s steel structures.

It’s an activity that requires a great deal of precision in order to line up the columns with the anchor bolts, which is why, for the safety of the public and workers, the crane cannot be used above the guideway while trains are in operation.

There will be additional work throughout 2022 that will once again temporarily impact service. We will do our best to minimize the impacts and will continue to notify customers and neighbours in advance for their awareness.
