Take transit to the Vancouver Pride Parade on July 31

PrideBus shows 'Ride with Pride' on the bus blind

It’s time to Ride with Pride for the Vancouver Pride Parade! 🏳‍🌈

The first in-person Pride Parade since 2019 returns with the theme Together Again, making its way through Robson, Denman, and Beach Avenue between 12 – 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 31st.

Travel to the parade with ease

We are boosting service and adjusting some bus routes to ensure you have safe and reliable transportation options when heading to and from the Pride Parade in Downtown Vancouver. Here is what you need to know:

SkyTrain

We’re increasing Expo and Millennium Line service between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. If you’re taking the Expo Line and are travelling between Scott Road Station and Columbia Station, we advise to add extra 20 minutes of travel time as there is single tracking on the SkyBridge due to construction.

Bus

We’re adding extra buses at Burrard Station and Lonsdale Quay.

Bus routes 5, 6, 23, 240, 246, and 257 will be rerouted due to the parade, so there will be limited service to the west side of Downtown Vancouver. There will also be no bus service along Robson Street, Denman Street, or Beach Avenue where the parade is taking place. Visit translink.ca/alerts for full details on bus detours.

Make sure to plan for extra travel time to get the full Pride Parade experience! Use our handy Trip Planner to plan your route.

3 easy ways to pay your transit fare

Paying your transit fare is easy. You can tap your Compass Card, Compass ticket, or use your credit card for contactless payment.

1. Compass Card

Unlock discounted transit fares by purchasing a Compass Card from a Compass Vending Machine at SkyTrain stations/SeaBus terminals or select London Drugs locations, at Compass Retailers, or online. You will be charged a $6 refundable deposit for each Compass Card. You can load the Compass Card with Stored Value for occasional trips, or a Monthly Pass if you plan on using transit frequently.

2. Tap to Pay with your contactless credit card

You can Tap to Pay at Compass readers onboard buses and at faregates for contactless payment using American Express, Mastercard, and Visa credit cards along with Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay wallet.

3. Compass Ticket

You can also purchase a Compass Ticket from a Compass Vending Machine at a SkyTrain station or SeaBus terminal using cash or debit. This single-use ticket is valid for 90 minutes and lets you transfer across buses, SeaBus, and SkyTrain. Pre-purchase your return Compass Ticket so can skip the lines at the Compass Vending Machines following the event.

On buses, you can pay with cash, but remember that paper transfers (tickets) issued on buses do not open the faregates at SkyTrain stations and SeaBus terminals; only Compass Cards, Compass Tickets, and contactless credit cards open them.

Beat the heat!

It can get very warm during the summer months so make sure to wear sunscreen, wear light-coloured, lightweight, and loose-fitting clothes. Pack your hats, sunglasses, and water.

Catch the PrideBus, along with TransLink employees as they march along to celebrate and support our LGBTQAI2S+ communities. Our team will be handing out our popular Pride fans to help festival attendees beat the heat.
