Car Free Day on Main Street!

Car Free Day is coming to Main Street on Sunday, September 18, 2022 from noon to 7 p.m.!

The typically hustling Mount Pleasant area will be transformed into a pedestrian-friendly festival with stages, local artists, and family-friendly activities. Experience the neighborhood without cars and visit the food vendors for delicious options!

Participate in the growing car-free culture by taking transit to the festival. Enjoy the final days before the autumn rain arrives, and don’t forget to plan your visit with Ride and Shine!

The TransLink team will be at the event with our Ride & Shine bus. Learn and practice using the bike rack on the bus, and board the historical, museum bus to check out transit artifacts, memorabilia, and a timeline of transit in Metro Vancouver from 1890 to now.

Did you know?! The museum bus is a 1957 General Motors TDH-4512 bus, commonly referred to as the “old look” bus. Why is it called that? You’ll want to stop by and ask one of the Transit Museum Society volunteers why!

Finally, taking transit is one of the most effective ways to reduce your carbon footprint. Take a car-free pledge this summer and visit your neighbourhood the environmentally sustainable way and leave the hassle of finding parking or paying for gas at the door.
