Capture beauty from our transit system for a chance to win $350!
It’s that time of year again — we’re bringing back our popular Poetry in Transit photo contest for its second year.
Are you a photography enthusiast up for a challenge? If so, this one’s for you! Each year, the Association of Book Publishers of BC, in partnership with TransLink and BC Transit, produces a collection of poetry cards that feature the works of BC-authored and Canadian-published poets.
For this year’s Poetry in Transit photo contest, we’re challenging you to capture your creative shots of Metro Vancouver that weave in the essence of a selection of poems. We’ll print and display these poems together on poetry cards, showcasing them on transit vehicles throughout BC. So, grab your camera and get ready to showcase your best snaps for a chance to win a cash prize of $350. This year’s photo contest is going to be bigger and better than ever before.
How to submit a photo
Photo submissions will be accepted via Instagram only. To enter you must have a public Instagram account and post your original contest photo with the hashtag #MyTransLinkPhoto to receive one entry into the competition.
Eligible entries must be received by 11:59:59 PM PT on Friday, June 9, 2023.
What’s in it for you?
We will pair each winning photo with poems selected for the 2023 Poetry in Transit display and feature them on poetry cards. The photo credit, including the name of the winning photographer, will be included, and each winning photographer will receive a $350 honorarium.
For full contest details, check out the 2023-06-28 – TransLink Poetry in Transit Image Challenge – Terms and Conditions. To be eligible for the competition, the entrant must be a resident of BC and be 19 years of age or older.
Need inspiration? Here are some prompts
- Where can one find beauty when the inside and the outside meet?
- Let the lines lead the way – powerlines, b-lines
- Let the beauty of the ocean or the peace of our natural rainforest speak to you
- Look around for laughter
- Can you think outside the box and actively capture the often-missed everyday details: shoelaces, lights, alarms?
