Transit-friendly Canada Day events in Metro Vancouver

Now marking its’ 156th birthday, Canada Day celebrations are happening across Metro Vancouver. With many celebrations going on, you might want to check out more than one!

Avoid the stress of traffic and parking by taking transit.

The SeaBus and SkyTrain’s Expo and Millennium Lines are operating extended service on Canada Day. Holiday fares are also in effect on July 1, which means you only need a 1-Zone fare to travel across all zones. For full details, please visit translink.ca/holidayservice.

Vancouver

Canada Together at Canada Place

⏰: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

📍: Canada Place (Vancouver)

🚇: Waterfront Station (Canada Line, Expo Line, SeaBus, and many buses also serve this station)

A popular celebration spot in the heart of Vancouver, Canada Place is hosting a Canada Day event with many things to do. Among them a music performance by pop-duo Tegan and Sara, as well as a Citizenship Ceremony where 30 Canadians-to-be will take the stage!

DJ O-Show, a favourite across our transit system, will also be in attendance with a set!

Burnaby & New Westminster

Canada Day at Edmonds Plaza and Park

⏰: 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

📍: 7433 Edmonds Street (Burnaby)

🚇: ~ 20 minutes walk from Edmonds Station, or buses 106 New Westminster Stn / Edmonds Stn, 119 Edmonds Stn / Metrotown Stn, and 133 Holdom Stn / Edmonds Stn

A perfect place to bring the kids for an engaging day of celebration. Edmonds Plaza and Park will have many kid-friendly activities filled with live entertainment, activities, games, and best of all, cake!

Burnaby Village Museum

Nestled inside the beautiful Deer Lake Park, the Burnaby Village Museum hosts an open-air site with displays, activities, and special cupcake treats!

StreetFest on Central

⏰: 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

📍: Central Boulevard, Central Park, Civic Square (Burnaby)

🚇: Patterson and Metrotown Stations, and many buses serving these stations

This celebration is accessible via two SkyTrain Stations. It features activities, performances, food, and a fireworks finale at Central Park to keep you walking and occupied throughout the evening.

Westminster Pier Park

📍: Westminster Pier Park (New Westminster)

🚇: Columbia Station and New Westminster Station (Expo Line), many buses serve this station

Immerse yourself in live music, multicultural performances, interactive circus experiences, and even create art that will be showcased in the community. Indulge your taste buds with delectable treats from food trucks and the Eats at the Pier concession.

Tri-Cities (Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, and Port Moody)

Golden Spike Days

📍: Rocky Point Park (Port Moody)

🚇: Moody Centre Station (Millennium Line), 160 Port Coquitlam Stn / Kootenay Loop

As a part of the larger four-day Golden Spike Days, Canada Day will be action-packed with activities that will make you laugh, mesmerized, and active. It starts with Tri Cities Got Talent and fitness in the morning and ends with the dance and comedy performances in the afternoon and evening.

Coquitlam Canada Day

To reflect upon the multicultural nature of the community, this celebration features various performances from the community. This is complemented with a fun-filled set of adventure games, food stands, and booths to keep you entertained until the 10 p.m. fireworks!

Port Coquitlam Canada Day Celebration

Richmond

Steveston Salmon Festival

An event all about celebrating the vibrant community of Steveston, the Steveston Salmon Festival is packed with exhibits showcasing art, cultural foods, horticulture, and a local market to highlight the uniqueness of this event.

The parade will start at 10 a.m., travelling along Moncton and Chatham Streets.

North Shore (North Vancouver and West Vancouver)

Canada Day North Vancouver

⏰: 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

📍: Shipyards District (North Vancouver)

🚇: Lonsdale Quay via the SeaBus, many buses this hub

Celebrate Canada Day at The Shipyards with the Rotary Club of Lions Gate! Join the community for a day of entertainment, including performances by local artists, a beer garden, and family-friendly fun.

Canada Day West Vancouver

Maple Ridge

Canada Day in Maple Ridge

Surrey, Langley, and White Rock

Surrey Canada Day

⏰: 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.

📍: Bill Reid Millennium Amphitheatre (Surrey)

🚇: 364 Langley Ctr / Scottsdale

Touted as Western Canada’s largest Canada Day celebration, it features four stages, entertainment, food and learning opportunities. Be sure to stay to the end with their fireworks extravaganza starting at 10 p.m.!

Canada Day by the Bay

⏰: 8 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.

📍: Memorial Park, Bayview Park, the White Rock, West Beach (White Rock)

Start your day with a pancake breakfast by donation at Bayview Park. Then, walk along the shores of White Rock, which will be filled with vendors, food, and entertainment. A grand finale fireworks display will mesmerize you at 10:15 p.m.

Aldergrove Athletic Park

Family fun and live entertainment takes over the park with mini golf, food trucks, and a magic show to keep everyone engaged!

Canada Day in Fort Langley

This family-friendly special event features a scavenger hunt, face painting, balloon twisting, and live music across this vibrant neighbourhood!
