It wouldn’t be summer in Vancouver without some spectacular fireworks. The annual Celebration of Light returns on July 22, 26, and 29!
We’re adding transit service in downtown Vancouver on all three nights to ensure customers get around safely and conveniently.
Don’t have a Compass Card or taking transit for the first time? Simply tap your contactless Interac debit card, as well as American Express, Mastercard and Visa credit cards at our faregates at stations and readers onboard buses.
Extra bus service will be in place in downtown Vancouver, starting at 5 p.m.
- Special pre-event bus service runs from both Burrard Station and Waterfront Station to the corner of Cardero Street and Robson Street.
- Special post-event bus service runs from the intersection of Bidwell Street and West Georgia Street.
- Post-event service drops customers off at the intersection of Burrard Street and West Georgia Street, and then at Waterfront Station.
- Post-event service to West and North Vancouver runs from the intersection of West Georgia Street and Denman Street.
- Due to street closures, the 2 Macdonald/Burrard Station, 5 Robson/Downtown, 6 Davie/Downtown, and 23 Main Street Station/English Bay routes are rerouted during event days.
SkyTrain will operate every 2-3 minutes before and after the fireworks each night.
- Burrard, Granville, and Waterfront stations will have modified access to entrances due to crowding.
- Due to the expected passenger volume, bikes will not be permitted on SkyTrain after 10:30 p.m.
SeaBus sailings will extend to 15-minute service each night from 9:15 p.m. to 11:15 p.m.
- 30-minute sailings will resume after 11:15 p.m. until 1:22 a.m.
West Coast Express will operate a special train on Saturday, July 29.
- One train will leave Mission City Station at 7 p.m. and arrive at Waterfront Station at 8:15 p.m.
- The return train will begin boarding at Waterfront Station at 11:00 p.m. and depart at midnight.
As always with big events, customers should plan for extra commute time. Extra Transit Police, Transit Security, and SkyTrain Attendants will be at stations each night to ensure everyone gets to and from the fireworks safely.
Taking transit is convenient, affordable, and can reduce greenhouse gas emissions in our region. Help make it a car-free summer in Metro Vancouver by riding transit to and from the Celebration of Light nights!
