Art Moves brings a live brass band show to transit
Art Moves brings you Babyface Brass, a brass band set to play funky jazz music at select transit locations this September. They might just wake the dancer in you!
They’re a band of five consisting of drums, saxophone, trumpet, tuba/electric bass, and a tap dancer. That’s right — so get your groove on if you’re taking transit at these hubs:
- Coquitlam Central Station: Tuesday, Sept. 5, 5–7 p.m.
- Surrey Central Station: Monday, Sept. 11, 4–6 p.m.
- Bridgeport Bus Loop: Tuesday, Sept. 19, 5–7 p.m.
- Art Moves location, presented by Downtown Van, at Waterfront Station: Friday, Sept. 22, 5–7 p.m.
- Lonsdale Quay SeaBus Terminal: Friday, Sept. 29, 5–7 p.m.
Babyface Brass is a group of friends that has been playing high-energy and danceable music on the streets of Vancouver for more than 14 years. One of the groups they cite as an influence is The Carnival Band, a community band based in Vancouver, where musicians from all over Vancouver gather ‘round and jam to their hearts’ content.
Ashton Sweet, one of the Babyface Brass founders, says all the songs they play are heavily improvised and they never played the same way twice. All they do is just communicate with each other using their eyes!
Babyface Brass plays simply for the joy of playing with each other. So, you’re in for a fun ride!
Art Moves is the result of our 2022-2027 Customer Experience Action Plan, which outlines our priorities to improve customer experience.
