TransLink wins two national awards for EDI and communications
TransLink has picked up two national awards as part of the Canadian Urban Transit Association (CUTA)’s annual awards program. It honours organizations and individuals for their contributions to public transit in Canada.
Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Award
Our Public Affairs department earned an Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Award for its Travel Training for Newcomers Program. This award recognizes initiatives, programs, and outreach undertaken by businesses, transit systems, and/or their municipal owners, committed to inclusive, accessible, diverse workplaces and communities.
The Travel Training for Newcomers Program offers newcomers free workshops and hands-on experience with buses and SkyTrain stations, multilingual travel training videos, and translated guides.
Metro Vancouver expects an influx of 50,000 newcomers each year, making public transit crucial for housing, employment, and essential service needs. We introduced this program to help them more easily integrate and settle into living in the region.
This year, we provided training to more than 2,000 newcomers.
Marketing and Communications Award
Our Communications department earned a Marketing and Communications Award for What’s the T: the TransLink Podcast with Jawn Jang. This award recognizes excellence in advertising, corporate communications, or public relations.
What’s the T brings listeners behind the scenes to uncover the real voices and stories that drive Metro Vancouver’s transit system forward. The first season of the podcast launched on May 30 and its now in its second. Listen now on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Pocket Casts, and everywhere you get your podcasts!
