Veterans ride free on Remembrance Day

On Nov. 11, TransLink honours veterans, active military personnel, Canadian Coast Guards, officers from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, and First Responders with free transit. Just show your military ID, Veteran’s Service Card, or wear your uniform. 

Ride free on buses and HandyDART all day, and, on the SkyTrain and SeaBus between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. An accessible fare gate will be open at all SkyTrain stations and SeaBus terminals. 

Take transit to Remembrance Day ceremonies 

We encourage everyone to ride transit when attending Remembrance Day ceremonies, as many of these ceremonies are conveniently located near transit, making it easy to pay your respects without the need to drive. To plan your route to Remembrance Day ceremonies visit translink.ca/tripplanner.

SERVICE DETAILS FOR REMEMBRANCE DAY: 

  • Customers who are not veterans will pay 1-Zone fare for travel across all zones. 
  • The West Coast Express will not operate.  
  • The SkyTrain, SeaBus, and bus will follow a Sunday/Holiday schedule.  
  • Regular service resumes on Tuesday, Nov. 12.  
  • TransLink Customer Service Centre and Lost Property are closed on Nov. 11. 

A minute of silence will be observed at 11 a.m. across the transit system, with buses pulling over at the closest stop when it’s safe to do so. Buses will display “Lest We Forget” on the destination sign.  

The Royal Canadian Legion will also hand out poppies by donation at various transit hub throughout Metro Vancouver.
