Big news for transit riders in northeast Surrey!

Starting Jan. 6, 2025, TransLink customers in and around northeast Surrey can ride a new 338 Guildford/East Fraser Heights bus route. It connects the growing East Fraser Heights neighbourhood with key regional and local transit destinations.

This new route is part of TransLink’s Winter Service Changes, which also include expanded service hours and increased frequency on several routes across Metro Vancouver.

The 338 Guildford/East Fraser Heights bus route at-a-glance:

  • 30-minute frequency
  • Weekday service from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Saturday service from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Sunday/holiday service from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Connects to the R1 King George Blvd RapidBus at Guildford Exchange

Why East Fraser Heights

The City of Surrey identified East Fraser Heights as a high-priority area for transit investment. The 338 route was first proposed in TransLink’s 2019 Transit Network Review, which highlighted the growing demand for transit in this neighbourhood. Funding for the new route comes from the 2024 Investment Plan, designed to address overcrowding and improve service levels across the region.

What’s new for Winter Service Change

TransLink’s upcoming seasonal changes, starting on Jan. 6, 2025, will include more service on 28 bus routes around the region.

• Slight service increases on 14 bus routes to address overcrowding.
• Extended operating hours on 10 routes in Surrey and Langley.
• Some trip extensions on Routes 9 and 130.

These service enhancements reflect TransLink’s continued investment in growing the transit network to meet the needs of the region’s rapidly expanding population.

Expanding and adding more transit service — like the 338 route — in the future will be possible by funding the Access for Everyone Plan. The plan’s targets include more than doubling 2022 bus service levels and adding up to nine new traffic-separated Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lines across Metro Vancouver.
