Have you heard of transit’s newest thing? Yes, it has a name!

Sing it — 🎶 “Mark V” 🎶

Mark V trains are the newest addition to our SkyTrain fleet and the next generation of SkyTrain. The first of 47 new trains is now in service. Mark V trains are our longest trains, with 25 per cent more capacity than earlier models.

As Metro Vancouver’s population continues to grow, so does the demand for fast, reliable, and comfortable transit. We’ve designed the Mark V with these needs in mind, drawing on feedback from thousands of riders during public consultations.

Features include:

  • ✅ Five-car open gangway design: walk from end to end without leaving the train
  • ✅ Wider aisles and more standing room, plus new leaning pads for comfort
  • ✅ More space for everyone: mobility aids, strollers, bikes, and luggage
  • ✅ LCD passenger info displays with next-stop and route info
  • ✅ Improved HVAC for better heating and cooling
  • ✅ “Driver’s seat” decals at each end for kids of all ages
  • ✅ Indigenous art adorns the windscreens inside the doors of each car
  • ✅ New livery in TransLink blue, grey, and yellow, with hockey stick-inspired headlights

If you’re lucky, you might just get on a Mark V train on your next commute! And if you do, remember its name:
