Transit riders board the 19 Kingsway to Metrotown Station bus at Main Street–Science World Station.

Every season, we roll out bus service changes to provide service where it’s needed most, based on ridership patterns.

This spring, starting April 20, we’re boosting service on 42 bus routes in Metro Vancouver. These changes will help make your commute more convenient, your ride less crowded, and roads less congested.

We’re also increasing seasonal service on 10 routes and returning bus service for three seasonal routes, so you can take more trips to the great outdoors! That means less time looking for parking and more time lounging on the beach.

TL;DR

  • Five of Metro Vancouver’s most overcrowded routes are getting more service: 99 B-Line, R4 41st Ave RapidBus, 335 Newton Exchange/Surrey Central Station, 240 Lynn Valley/Downtown, and 106 Edmonds Station/New Westminster Station.
  • Route 19, which runs between Stanley Park and Metrotown, is also seeing more frequent service every day.
  • Route 388, which runs between 22nd Street Station and Carvolth Exchange, will have extended hours until 9 p.m. during weeknights.
  • We’re increasing seasonal service on 10 routes that serve popular beaches, lakes, and parks. It’s also getting easier to get to the islands, with added trips on routes to BC Ferries terminals like the 257 to Horseshoe Bay and the 620 to Tsawwassen.
  • Three seasonal routes are returning this season: 42 Spanish Banks, 150 White Pine Beach, and 179 Buntzen Lake.

The boost in bus service on 42 routes, alongside improvements on 37 routes last winter, is thanks to the 2025 Investment Plan, which delivers the largest bus expansion since 2018.
