Everything you need to know about Car Free Days in Metro Vancouver this summer
It’s that time again — Car Free Days are back around the region with eight awesome (and free!) events this summer.
These lively community festivals each have their own special flair and feature an exciting assortment of vendors, live music, food, and other family-friendly fun.
Just think of them as big block parties!
All you need to know 🎉
Surrey – Saturday, June 6 (Noon – 8 p.m.)
It all kicks off in Newton. Check out live music and performances on three stages, try mini golf, a climbing wall, and bounce houses. Explore local food trucks and browse the bustling artisan market.
North Vancouver – Saturday, June 27 (Noon – 7 p.m.)
The Lower Lonsdale Block Party on East 1st Street is packed with stuff to do, including a beer garden, lots of food choices, street games, and live musical performances.
Port Moody – Sunday, Aug. 16 (Noon – 5 p.m.)
Head down to St. Johns Street between Queens and Moody streets, to shop at local businesses, plus enjoy musicians, tasty treats, and other family activities.
Port Coquitlam – Saturday, Aug. 29 (1 p.m. – 8 p.m.)
McAllister Avenue will be alive with games, food and beverage options, electric vehicle displays, community booths, and more.
Burnaby – Sunday, Aug. 30 (Noon – 5 p.m.)
The fun takes place on Edmonds Street between Kingsway and Mary Avenue. Don’t miss delectable eats, live entertainment, and local marketplaces.
Commercial Drive – Saturday, Sept. 5 (Noon – 7 p.m.)
The Drive has much to offer this year, including tons of food, local artists, dancing, music, and other live performances.
Maple Ridge – Saturday, Sept. 5 (2 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.)
The Our Neck of the Woods street party is happening at Memorial Peace Park and the downtown core. This event will deliver live music, a beer garden, kids zone, zipline, and food trucks. Stick around for nighttime musical performances from headliner Sam Roberts Band, Danielle Ryan, Hey Ocean!, and Jojo Mason.
Main Street – Sunday, Sept. 13 (Noon – 7 p.m.)
Celebrate culture and sustainability as this iconic area is transformed into a pedestrian paradise brimming with live performances, local vendors, food trucks, and plenty of activities.
Leave the car at home and explore what these Metro Vancouver neighbourhoods have to offer.
There are lots of ways to get there — whether you’re taking transit, walking, cycling, or rolling.

While it started as a small grassroots idea, Car Free Days has transformed into one of Metro Vancouver’s favourite summer traditions. Busy streets become vibrant spaces where thousands of visitors can slow down and appreciate our unique neighbourhoods.
But it’s more than just a fun day out. These events provide a glimpse into what cities can feel like when streets are designed more for people than cars. They bring communities together and encourage active transportation.
