FIFA World Cup 2026™ Vancouver: Everything you need to know about the Stadium—Chinatown exit closure
FIFA World Cup 2026™ Vancouver: Everything you need to know about the Stadium—Chinatown exit closure
Heads up, soccer fans: Main Street—Science World Station is your SkyTrain stop for match-day access to BC Place during FIFA World Cup 2026™ Vancouver.
As we prepare to welcome visitors from around the world, we’re prioritizing local riders while ensuring tourists can navigate the transit system easily during the world’s biggest tournament.
Many partners are working together to ensure safety and ease of access in and around the stadium and across the city. To support these efforts, we’ve introduced new access protocols at Stadium—Chinatown Station.
What does this mean for transit riders and tournament attendees?
While locals may be used to getting off at the aptly named Stadium—Chinatown Station for concerts and sporting events, the City of Vancouver’s Host Committee have requested no match day access to BC Place from this station to prioritize safety. TransLink is accommodating this request.
If you plan to go to BC Place on match days, do not get off at Stadium—Chinatown Station. The lower entrance (Expo Boulevard) of Stadium—Chinatown Station will be closed on match days. The Keefer Street and Beatty Street entrance will remain open for riders travelling elsewhere.
If you are a ticket holder attending a match at BC Place or planning to experience the excitement outside the stadium on match days, get off the SkyTrain at Main Street—Science World Station.
You can only join The Last Mile — the pedestrian route to the stadium’s primary entrance — at this station.
Transit is the best bet for a smooth journey to the stadium, as parking will be limited and some roads affected.
Wait, is the station closed or not?
Stadium—Chinatown Station’s Expo Boulevard exit will remain open as usual on days where there are no local matches, with extended service all around.
It’s only closed on match days, so riders who want to access BC Place will have to hop off at Main Street—Science World Station.
How about accessibility?
If you’re in need of extra accessibility, we’ve got you covered: the Metro Vancouver transit system is fully accessible.
Not a match day? It’s business as usual for all transit riders with increased service overall and no lower entrance exit closure at Stadium—Chinatown Station.
We offer various assistance navigating the system to ensure accessibility. For help on the Expo and Millennium Lines, please call 604-520-5518 at least 10 minutes before arriving at a station on the day of your trip to ensure an attendant is available to assist you.
