Six ways Transit app makes your commute easier

Six ways Transit app makes your commute easier

Royale is here, and it’s FREE for everyone.

It feels like there’s a paid subscription for everything these days, but luckily, some of the best things are still free.

TransLink has partnered with Transit app to deliver real-time information, service alerts and trip planning for Metro Vancouver users. The best part? We’ve made the premium version – Transit Royale – free for locals.

Royale includes extra features to make planning your transit easier and more fun. Check out some of the highlights:

1. See more departure times and plan more varied trips

Planning a future trip on transit? Royale allows you to see departure schedules far in advance, instead of a few hours ahead. It’s a great feature for planning your return trip home if it’ll be far later in the day.

You can also see more transit lines and potential routes. So if biking, walking, or riding a scooter is part of your trip, it’ll show you the best routes that connect you to transit.

2. Know exactly where to go and when

Royale has features that eliminate the need to switch between apps:

  • The “GO” function keeps you informed at every step in the journey. It’ll tell you when your stop is coming up, how many stops it’ll take to get there, and show you where to get on transit.
  • With real-time vehicle tracking across all types of vehicles, you can watch your bus or SkyTrain move along its route, see when it’s approaching, and follow its progress on the map for added peace of mind.
  • Relevant service alerts are delivered right in the app, helping you stay on top of delays, detours, and disruptions.

With everything mapped out in advance and delivered to you at the right time, you can relax and enjoy the ride.

3. Find important TransLink resources in one place

You can find contact information, rider guides, information on fares, and know what to do if you lose something on transit all at the bottom of your account page.

You can even find transit schedules and social media channels in addition to your regular routes.

4. Win points by helping fellow transit riders

When you use the app’s GO crowdsourcing feature to answer questions about your trip, you can win points while helping other riders plan their trips.  See how many points you can get to rocket into the Transit app leaderboards. It’s not just a way to help out fellow riders — it provides important feedback about the app and transit itself.

“Vengeful banana” pretty much sums up the competitive-ness involved.

5. Choose a fun name, emoji, and custom app icon

Add a bit of fun to your commute by customizing your name and adding an avatar emoji. Keep your phone looking sleek and organized by choosing your own app icon — it helps make the app easier to find on your home screen, especially during those moments where you’re looking for a quick transfer from SkyTrain to bus, or other similar routes. One tap on the bright icon and you’re on your way.

6. Add custom pins for favourite locations

Personalize the app by saving your favourite destinations and organizing them with custom pins. Whether it’s home, work, school, or your neighbourhood café, your most-visited spots are always easy to find.

By creating a personalized map of the places you visit most often, you can spend less time searching for destinations and more time getting where you need to go. Simply tap on a saved location to instantly see the best route from wherever you’re starting.

Over time, your personalized map becomes a quick-access guide to your routine, helping you navigate your favourite destinations with fewer taps and less planning.

By bringing real-time tracking, service alerts, trip planning and navigation together, Transit helps make your commute more predictable, convenient, and stress-free.
